Problems and Materials on Secured Transactions, 4th

This book teaches students about secured transactions and the law governing those transactions (UCC Article 9 as amended in 2010), while simultaneously training students in the use and interpretation of statutes. The book contains few cases and instead provides textual explanation followed by carefully sequenced problems testing student understanding and providing a basis for classroom discussion. Accompanying the book are: (i) a website with links to more than 2 dozen electronic exercises; and (ii) 8 electronic exams, available through CasebookPlus, which assess student understanding. The web page contains additional materials to assist students in answering selected problems, as well as PowerPoint slides for faculty that diagram most of the problems. The detailed teacher's manual provides an extensive analysis of each problem. The author posts a supplement to the book and addenda to the teacher's manual on the website at regular intervals.

To assist students in developing statutory construction skills, several problems require the students to rewrite code provisions and others ask them to imagine a factual scenario to which a particular provision applies. An in-depth analysis of problems with supporting text in the teacher's manual will be helpful to new and experienced teachers alike.
